Teaching has been my career for the last fifteen years. And guess what? I'm learning new things everyday. That's why I find education so intriguing. I help my students learn, and at the same time, they're helping me grow as a teacher.
I was born and raised here in Germantown. I went to Germantown Elementary School and have wonderful memories. After my husband, Ryan, and I got married in 2005, we moved to Breese. We had a girl, Ava, and a boy, Tyson. When our youngest son, Van, finally made his arrival, we decided to move back to Germantown. We just love this place!
I attended Southern University in Edwardsville to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After graduation I took a job at Aviston Elementary where I stayed for twelve years. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grade as well as Title 1. While teaching at Aviston, I attended McKendree University to acquire my Reading Endorsement.
This year I am excited to teach third grade once again! I believe that all students are capable of learning. They will take responsibility for their learning which will show them how far they can come this year. I want to expand their knowledge by using exciting, educational, fresh ways to make learning fun. In here, we are a community. We will not only teach each other educational lessons, but also teach each other how to be great citizens. After all, "Together may we give our children the roots to grow...and the wings to fly."
